Location: Paris, France

Solution provided: Early system issue identification, successful thermal loop validation, and timeline protection for the client’s commissioning programme

Project type: Load Bank Commissioning

Case Study: Paris Data Centre

Overview

Powerload Limited was recently engaged to support a major commissioning programme at a data centre facility located just outside Paris, France. The requirement: to accelerate the cooling validation process and help identify system issues early, ensuring that key project milestones were met without compromise.

Our Solution

To meet the objective, we deployed our 500kW Water-Cooled Load Bank, a purpose-built unit engineered to simulate real heat loads during critical infrastructure testing. The system was integrated directly with the site’s mechanical cooling loop, enabling full-scale thermal commissioning without the need for IT hardware on-site.

The Powerload unit was delivered, installed, and operated by our in-house engineers, who remained on site throughout the testing window. This ensured real-time support, operational safety, and fast adaptation to any changes required by the client or commissioning agent.

Project Highlights

  • Seamless connection to the site’s CDU and chiller network
  • Validation of flow rates, pressure drops, and thermal transfer efficiency
  • Identification of potential system bottlenecks before server arrival
  • Early-phase commissioning – helping the client gain confidence in infrastructure stability

Outcome

As always, our team worked closely with stakeholders on-site to ensure alignment with test objectives and to capture any project-specific feedback. This approach allows us to continually refine our offering and deliver commissioning tools that are fit-for-purpose and built around real-world data centre challenges.
